Ds storyboard

The main focus on my digital story is the importance of being careful what you post. There are very many people mainly young teenagers who post remarks or photos on social media that hurt others or their chances for a job or college. The parts of my story will elaborate on all three major social medias being Facebook, twitter, and Instagram. A student will reckless post comments that are disturbing in material on these social sites. I will use prezi to the tell stories in phases of what happens when you are reckless on social media. The first phase will be Facebook and the posts that hurt the students chances of getting into a good school. Then there will be the Instagram phases and then followed be the twitter phase. the student will go to apply to a college and will submit a policy allowing colleges to view his material. The student will be accepted into college and then will apply for scholarships. The people who administrate these scholarships will view his social media sites and then he will not receive these scholarships because of these posts. Prezi will help me because the way it flows will display the story the best.

Snowden article

Ever knows about Wikileaks and Julian Assange and the Snowden leaks now. The question is still though which will have a bigger impact? Many think and as well as I think that Snowden will have a bigger impact. the http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_world_/2013/10/24/reports_of_nsa_spying_on_france_and_germany_why_the_snowden_leaks_will_have.html Following article goes on about how the Snowden leaks will have a bigger impact. The United States did not only gain the suspicion of it's own citizens but also the suspicion of other countries. This will affect domestic and foreign affairs for a long time.

A traitor's life

Many citizens, including myself were shocked when we they first found out about the NSA leaks. I at first lost a lot of trust and respect for my government. But wait once I really thought about it. What is the NSA looking for… They are not interested in our personal lives. No one gives a crap about joe shmos big promotion. We are just a bunch of fish in a ocean. The NSA is looking for terrorists domestic and foreign. They are looking for people who are going to attack America on it's own soil. I would fork up some of my privacy rights for my safety. People are just blowing this out of proportion because it is another excuse to blame the government for their problems. Snowden made public that he was the one leaking the information to the public in a interview with Greenwald. Once this was public the hunt for snowmen began and then the newspapers were told to destroy their evidence and David Miranda was held in Heathrow airport for violating certain laws. Do I think Snowden is a traitor yes because all he has done thrown this country into an upheaval.

annotated bibliography

My digital story mainly focuses on the affects of social media on high school students losing scholarships. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/01/23/catholic-high-school-football-star-expelled-loses-scholarship-over-racist-sexual-tweets/ The article tells the story how a football star lost his scholarship to a prestigious school. Not only did he lose his scholarship he was also let go from his school because of his tweets. This will be evidence of how dangerous tweets are. http://www.stack.com/2011/11/21/high-school-social-media-mistakes/ This article talks about the mistakes that you can make that will make you vulnerable to losing your scholarship. This article I will use when at the end of the story I will talk about ways to protect you and be careful. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/20/caitlin-ortiz-molloy-coll_n_880837.html This scholarship talks about how simply putting rap lyrics on a Facebook post can damage your chances of losing your scholarship. This is similar to Andrew Coonfare because he did something similar. http://www.fastweb.com/financial-aid/articles/3478-some-scholarship-sponsors-review-the-online-presence-of-finalists-when-selecting-winners This articles talks about how before giving out scholarships organizations will check social media. They check social media to see if the contestant is worthy or not. This is the factor that did not allow Andrew Coonfare to get the scholarship.

Digital story proposal

Digital story proposal
My digital story relates to something that happened to my friend in real life. A friend of mine lost the opportunity to be in the honors program at prestigious school. This story affects many students in the world go through the same problem. This relates to what we have learned in class and what we have discussed all year. When we had a speaker come in and discuss with us and tells us about people losing their jobs because of their social media posts.
Situation: Student gets into a prestigious college and then loses scholarship because of inappropriate tweets.
Theme: Be careful what you display on the Internet. Because what you display on the Internet can come back to haunt you.
Outline:
The student named Andrew Coonfare will have straight A’s all through college and receive and 36 on his ACT. Andrew will be involved on the hockey team and will be the captain. He will have everything going perfectly on in his life. He will have a great family. He will apply to many schools and will get accepted and be given many scholarships. Once he has been given scholarships he will be given a reviewable by the collages. Hey will go through all of his Facebook and then all of his twitter. Once they go to his twitter they will realize that is not as well rounded as they thought he was. They will soon realize that he posts most inapporipate tweets. The bias repots he would receive would make him bankrupt for life. All of his tweets are derogatory to anyone and are completely repulsive. They will eventually decided to reject him and not give him a scholarship. His fiends and family will be disappointed and he will be drowned in school debt.
To tell this story I will make a new blogger account and blog to this to the public so that they will know Andrew Coonfare mistakes. Once they know his mistakes the ball will be in their court to avoid the mistakes. I have strong experience with blogger because of our web logs. I think this will be the most successful way for me to do this project because I know I would struggle with making a website.

I choose this website because it had examples of why people got fired.

Once again this gives examples of p

web log china

Many people in the United States are not aware of the censorship issues in china. The Chinese government controls what the citizens and residents of china are allowed to view and publish on the Internet. Back a while ago Google was having problems with Chinese sensorship and almost left the country completely. Now there are individuals and groups blogging about the injustices in china. These blogs are micro blogs and millions of people follow and view these blogs. Users have become online celebrities. These blogs have become a huge headache for the Chinese government. In a government system were their citizens have little to no rights and do not have the ability to hold the right of freedom of speech these blogs challenge the Chinese government’s sovereignty. The Chinese government has caught one of the popular bloggers; Charles Xue was brought up on the charges of using prostitution, which is illegal in China. The Chinese government was not able to charge him with the charges of speaking out against the government. Though catching him will help the Chinese government catch the Big V.

Blog post Minerals

Many American and western companies use minerals mined in Africa. Many of these minerals go into consumer goods that are used every single day by an average citizen. However, these citizens do not know where and how the minerals are produced. They are mainly made in mines that are controlled by warlords. These warlords then use these minerals to sell and to trade for weapons to control their regions. They enslave many citizens and conquered people. They use children to work in their mines and to be soldiers in their armies. The warlords do not care one bit about the people of the region and concisely abuses them.
If there was a law that outlawed the trade of these minerals could this be put to an end? The SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) is now making a law that enforces companies to show where they got their minerals. Companies are not stopping to buy these minerals because they will not be allowed to use them. Apple, Motorola, and Advanced devices are some of the companies that use these minerals. The law is expected to come into effect this year. The SEC is still drafting a regulation for this issue. This will cause many companies to lose money but for the best.

Social project

Many people buy diamonds are not really sure where the diamonds originate. These diamonds can come from Russia or from Africa. The way they come from Africa is usually referred to as “Blood Diamonds” because the way they are obtained. The way these Diamonds make their way to western countries are through the illegal trade. The Diamonds are traded by the warlords, which go to arm dealers. The arm dealers will then sell the diamonds to third parties. The diamonds are obtained through slavery. When a warlord conquers a village, he takes the able inhabitants of the village and forces them to work in the mines. The inhabitants that cannot work in the mines are killed. Some of the children are forced to serve in the warlord’s army. The workers are not given breaks and are forced to work until they die. The warlords are not concerned for their health because another village means more workers. If a worker is injured they will be killed or have their limbs hacked off with a machete.
The diamonds fuel the warlords with money, weapons, and powers. They are the main reason why the warlords have the ability to fight and to continue to fight. Without the diamonds the warlords would not be able to obtain the resources necessary for their rebellion. So to stop the warlords and to stop this injustice all you have to do is stop the trade of the diamonds. There was bill that was created to stop this. The bill forced all diamonds to have a receipt and prove where the diamonds came from and how they were obtained. The bill has yet to pass. A lot of people will have the diamonds and not even know it. The diamonds are in a lot of consumer products.
The way I could alert people through this injustice is through a documentary. The movie “Blood Diamond” was created in 2006 and starred Leonardo DiCaprio. The film takes place in 1990s Sierra Leone and was about a arms dealer that had a change of heart and found a ruby red diamond. He helps a man who was forced in the mines to make public the issues of the blood diamond. The film was a blockbuster hit and was very popular in the United Sates of America. The film was the first time I was introduced to the issue. The film was the first time the issue was introduced to a lot of westerners. Because of the effect the film had on others, and me I have decided to do a documentary for my social action project. I have experience with video editing and making movies. I will show clips from the movies and then relate them to what is actually going on a do voice overs to narrate what I am talking about. This is the best way to do this project because I think movies and documentary get the message across better to people. The YouTube video Kony 2012 had a very large impact and made people across the United States alert to what was going on with the children soldiers. I hope my video will have the same effect.

Arab Spring and the powers of social media.

During 2011 many arab countries saw change in their governments. The reason this change was able to take place was because of social media. Protesters would organize the demonstrations on Facebook and then make sure everything was in place on twitter. They would also spread their ideas through youtube to the world. The Governments that were being overthrown even went to the extremes of shutting down social media networks. So this raises the question for me and everybody else. How powerful is social media? If social media has the power to overthrow governments what good could it do in this world?

1) United States, Russia, Australia, and Canada.
2) effects the soil mining towns and affects residents and workers by dust and accumulation and it is regulated by the government.
3). it effects your cognition and development.
4). it has the same effects as manufacturing.
5) circuit flip chips, bonding agent for lcd lights.
Many people know about and all of the poor working conditions. A lot of these poor working conditions take place over seas. They have nets set up in china so workers will not be able to commit suicide. When apple was about to release the iPhone 5C the workers had to work longer hours and in worse conditions. The labor violations apple's producer has committed is extensive. This begs the question how far people will go just to make a profit.

Do you think that her family is helping her or holding her back?

Do you think we should waste technology like that?

The things we learned about the NSA.
The NSA had a huge leak this past summer with former employe Snowden told the press about what the NSA was up to. The NSA was spying on it's own citizens the people who they are suppose to protect from evil. The NSA mainly would listen on phone calls and look for certain trigger words that would lead to potential harm. The NSA also had the ability to read your texts and data on our phones. They had the ability to look on iPhones, androids, and blackberry devices. The NSA also would try to hack into security protection software so they could have a back door when ever they need to use it. They also had 2,776 incidents in which their own staff broke their own rules and standards. The NSA also demanded from Verizon all of their cell phone records so they keep on tab on who has a phone and who does not. So you are probably saying so what this is to protect me what is the big deal. The big deal is that the NSA is violating our privacy and breaking rules that were made over 200 years ago. This is something that is huge media justice issue. How much freedom do we really have online? Until Congress and the Senate pass a bill limiting the NSA the answer is not a whole lot.http://www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2013/09/09/ten-things-weve-learned-about-the-nsa-from-a-summer-of-snowden-leaks/

Video games
Many people in the United States are against the prospect of violent video games.  They say that video games deteriorate teen and children’s brains. They also say that video games that are violent cause people to be violent.  Teens were more likely to get in fight with their peers and also showed signs of aggression towards their teachers.  Teens also saw a drop in their academic achievements. This is true in many cases violent video games especially first person shooter caused people to be more violent. Teens are more susceptible; the average male teens play 13 hours of video games a week whereas girls only averaged five hours a week. So what is the best way to prevent violence in teens? Parents have to take action if they want to see a change in their teen’s behavior in relationship to video games. Parent should never put a tv in their child’s room. They should not allow their child to read violent books or comic books. POW!!! Parents should keep gaming systems out of their child’s room and should monitor the media (tv shows, movies, sports) they watch. Parents should also monitor how many hours their children are allowed to play and what they play. Video games are fun but people should be cautious and check themselves before they wreck themselves.
